But after his harrowing journey with Brienne, he says a few words that almost make you forget that. Cersei's words to Ned Stark serve as a warning for the horrors that lie ahead. The wrong decisions will cost you your life. A eunuch's vengeance Lord Varys is a very mysterious figure in both the books and the TV show. For a while, his two defining traits were being a eunuch and having lots of connections.
Here, Varys gets the chance to reveal more about himself, including his willingness to join in on the bloodshed around him. Cersei's storytime Like Jaime, Cersei gets a moment of humanity during a hard fall from grace. With the walls closing in on her and Tommen, she tells her son a tale to keep his spirits up and to remind him of his potential as a Lannister.
For a brief moment, Cersei stops being a bloodthirsty queen and becomes a loving mother. Season 3 really sees the Mother of Dragons come into her own as a queen. Dany amasses an army with the Unsullied of Astapor before leading a revolution in Slaver's Bay. The Targaryen queen tricks Kraznys mo Nakloz and takes the city in a shocking swerve. Her speech to the Unsullied remains one of her most powerful and results in the soldiers freely pledging themselves to her cause.
When the Thirteen reject them, the Targaryen queen threatens to burn their city in a last-ditch show of power. Dany's Qarth speech holds none of the tact or grace as her declamation to the Unsullied. The Targaryen queen's attempt to intimidate the Thirteen only foreshadows the fiery fate of King's Landing in the final season. The Mother of Dragons has time to perfect her epic speeches during her journey through Slaver's Bay, and she eventually arrives at Meereen with the Unsullied and the Second Sons in season 4's "Breaker Of Chains.
The Khaleesi's speech leads to the uprising of the slaves; the masters are subsequently killed, and Daenerys is crowned Queen of Meereen. Daenerys' character diverts drastically in season 8, from Breaker of Chains to Butcher of Cities. In one episode, Dany kills more people on-screen than any other character in the series.
King's Landing is consumed with dragonfire in "The Bells" and the Targaryen queen succumbs to her family madness. The Mother of Dragons' dark descent is further underscored by a chilling speech to her armies in the series finale. Daenerys declares war on the rest of the world, dissatisfied with conquering Westeros alone. Daenerys returns to her roots during season 6.
The Khaleesi soon turns the tables on the khals during "Book Of The Stranger" and assumes leadership of the Dothraki after emerging from the fire unscathed. Game of Thrones is rightly famous for creating a cutthroat world where politics is almost always a zero-sum game with definite winners and losers.
One of these is the eunuch Varys , who comes to occupy a very important place in the affairs of Westeros, scheming and manipulating for what he definitely views is the good of the realm.
While he has quite a few good speeches to his credit, it has to be said that some of them are also quite overdone.
At one point, however, he does give an extensive speech about how he came to be the way that he is. This show is sort of notorious for its tone, in that it sometimes indulges in vulgarity just for the sake of vulgarity. One of the conceits of this show is that almost everyone is out for themselves. Whether it be vengeance as with Arya or simple power as with some of the Lannisters , most notably Cersei , there are very few characters that seem to care about anything beyond their own self-interest.
One of those, however, is Varys, who genuinely does seem to care about what happens to the realm of Westeros.
